       Green Papaya and Enzymes

Papaya is tree-like plant, grown in tropical countries. It has male, female and also bisexual trees but only female tree bears fruit. It is also known as fast growing plant and only after six (6) months from the seeding, fruit may be harvested.
Enzymes are proteins that catalyze chemical reactions. Most enzyme reaction rates are millions of times faster than those of comparable un-catalyzed reaction. It is now common knowledge that "Enzymes has important role in human body's functions".
Many fruits, vegetables and supplements are introduced as enzyme contained products, but
Green Papaya has most variety and quantity of enzymes.


       Papaya and Okinawa Island
Northern limit of papaya growing is Okinawa Island. Many years ago, Okinawa has difficulty to secure food due to bad weather conditions, and the local government introduces Papaya as quick harvesting fruits. Since then, people eat green papaya as vegetable in salad, soup or frying with pork meat called "champloo".
Okinawa is known as "Island of longevity " and frequent eating of green papaya may be the one of its secrets.


       Ingredients: 

Yonaguni Island is western border of Japan and one hundred (100) kilometers east of Taiwan. It is upheaval coral island and the population is only less than two thousand (2,000). But, it has mountain, river and rice filed. It is also known as "Herb Island" that many wild plants can be used for natural medicines.

At present, most of Okinawa’s papaya is grown in green house to avoid strong typhoons. But in Yonaguni, papaya grows wild around the mountain which preserves strong enzymes. The soil in island is very fertile and papaya reaches more than ten (10) meters tall and bears several tens of fruits without any chemical or organic fertilizers.
       Papaya's Efficacies
Green papaya's efficacies are reported as follows;

1) Assist digestion of food with     high calorific value such as     meats.
2) Decompose left over in the     intestine.
3) Improve diabetic conditions
  by improving stomach         functions.
4) Prevent forming thrombus in     blood vessel.

The doctors are now alarming people with the "metabolic syndrome" which increases the risk of heart and other diseases.
It is time to rediscover green papaya's goodness which may help reducing the metabolic problems.
Green Papaya is the vegetable of 21st century.


       Enzymes in processed food

Because of easy cooking, long preservation period and good taste, so many kinds of processed foods are available in the market.
But, there are no live enzymes contained and also food preservative, coloring and artificial flavors are used.



People may believe "fruits contain so many enzymes". When fruits started to ripe, enzymes will be varnished quickly and most of unripe fruits are difficult to eat.
Green papaya can be eaten raw as vegetable salad like in Vietnam's, and will give all the important enzymes for metabolism.
